The Knights of Columbus Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest is a program designed to help 8th graders and High School students put their Faith into action. Students in the 8th-12th grades are asked to write an essay defining the role of a Catholic citizen in different situations.
This year's theme:
In an essay of 500-750 words, discuss how trusting in God during a difficult time has helped you or someone you know find the strength and hope to endure it. Consider especially those times when it was a challenge to understand why something was happening. Consider also sharing any lessons about faith and hope you or someone you know may have learned from this experience.
"Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy" (1 Peter 1:8)

THANK YOU to those who joined and participated in Diocesan Youth Day. Thank you also for bearing and sticking with the program through the technical difficulties. We appreciate your 'yes' and hope the Holy Spirit enlightened your minds and hearts with God's messages.
Our Diocese's Religious Communities, Priests, and Seminarians have been a huge support of our young people & DYD and have always been present and participated in our Ministry & Vocations Fair. They've put videos together for you to learn more about their communities, and/or more about the vocation to religious life or priesthood. Please check out the following videos below to learn more about them and visit the Diocese OYYAM website (https://www.catholichawaii.org/oyyam/ym/dyd) for more information.
Also, in honor of All Saints Day and All Souls Day, we encourage you to pray with your patron Saint throughout the month or learn a new Saint you've been curious about. We also encourage you to remember and pray for the souls of all our loved ones who have passed and light a candle for them throughout the month. If you need help finding prayer resources, let us know and we would be happy to help you.
God Bless and keep you always!
