Sts Peter and Paul Church Prepares for New Mass Prayers

On the first Sunday of Advent, November 27, 2011, the new translation of the Roman Missal goes into effect. Under the guidance of Father Dave, the various ministries of Sts Peter and Paul church have begun preparing for the liturgical changes. Preparations include providing resources of information that will help Sts Peter and Paul parishioners understand and embrace the revised translation.

Today we gather together to celebrate the Mass for the Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time and we welcome to our Parish Fr. Sydney Fernandez, who comes to us from St. Roch’s Church in Kahuku. He will be taking Msgr. Romeo’s place, who is leaving us after three years of service to the parish and the Diocese.

Week of June 26, 2011

Today we gather together to celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi (The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ) and tonight our Bishop, Larry Silva will be here at the 6 p.m. Mass to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation for this year’s class. For us as a Parish it is an honor for the Bishop to come here. The confirmandi get an added sense of how important Confirmation is.

Today we gather together to celebrate two special events. First it is Father’s Day and we honor all those who are heads of families and we also honor Monsignor Romeo, who has been our Assistant Priest for three years, as he prepares to leave us to return to the Philippines in early July.

Today we gather together to celebrate the Feast of the Pentecost or what we know as the Birthday of the Church. We have spent some fifty days in celebration of Easter and all its surrounding feasts. Now we enter regular time as we gather to again witness the Holy Spirit descending upon the Apostles.

Week of June 5, 2011

Today we gather together to celebrate the Mass for the Seventh Sunday of Easter and we find ourselves in the first Sunday of June. Time, as it often does, has a way of flying by. Our only hope is that we use our time wisely and make the most of it.
That is what God wants us to do. I can remember that someone once said we should make our time used in a purposeful way. Good advice as we try to serve God each day.

Today we gather together to celebrate the Sixth Sunday of Easter. We move along reliving the Resurrection of the Lord, it is the foundation of our belief. If Christ was not risen from the dead, then all that we believe would be fruitless and in vain.
