Fr. David Travers, SJ officially retired January 31, 2012. First of all, I do want to take this opportunity to thank Fr. Dave for his years of dedication and service as a priest for the Catholic Church and more so as Pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul for the last sixteen years. I’m sure he is happy without all the responsibilities of administration, but he will continue to celebrate Mass and other sacraments here at Sts. Peter and Paul. Mahalo and Congratulations!!!

Fourth Sunday In Ordinary Time:
As One With Authority

Today we gather together to celebrate the Mass for the Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time. To paraphrase the Responsorial Psalm we might say, “If today you hear his voice, listen.” We are the listeners
of this generation and we go to mass every Sunday to become closer and closer to God. After all that is the task that God sets out for each and everyone of us. The better we listen, the better we become but we must be aware of what God wants of us.

Week of Christmas, 2011

For the first time in a number of years, Christmas falls on Sunday, and for those who speak
like that we get a “twofor” ( one Mass for two feasts – Sunday and Christmas Day). Since we always center on the Sunday feast, it is fitting that we set the Sunday aside and dwell on Christmas.

Today we gather to celebrate the Mass for the Fourth Sunday of Advent and since Christmas comes next week Sunday, we have a full week to celebrate it. Depending on the date of Christmas, we can have a full fourth week or one as short as one day. But all the same we still have time for preparation. Our question then is, in what way has my preparation been? Am I a better person today than I was when Advent began? If not, then I have very little time to prepare for Christ’s coming. But then little time is better than no time. So do what you can.

Our preparation season is racing by.
