FIRST READING -Acts 10:34a, 37-43
Peter’s sermon reminds us that the resurrected Christ did not appear to everyone. Easter is only real to those whose hearts are prepared to see the invisible and attempt the impossible. For the rest, it is only a fanciful and unlikely tale.
SECOND READING- Colossians 3:1-4
Those who are alive in Christ have already defeated the power of death. Resurrection is not some event that awaits us at the end of life. It is a power that fills our lives with victory here and now.
GOSPEL- Mark 16:1-8
The first to discover the empty tomb of Jesus were the women who went to anoint his body for burial. They were completely unprepared for the angel’s message and were astounded. God continues to confound us by bringing life out of death.
