Greetings from the Pastor
Twenty-Sixth Sunday In Ordinary Time:
Having The Mind Of Christ
Today we gather together to celebrate the Mass for the Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary
Time. The first reading from Ezekiel centers on repentance and that is something very important to all of us. After all we are to have our relationship with God a good one. That is why we are here on this earth. As far back as we can remember, we are here to praise, reverence and serve God in this life in order to be happy with him in this year and the next. If we do this then we will not only be doing what God wants, but our lives are successful and we will live in peace and harmony with each other.
We also have to have care and concern for one another. This is what sets ourselves as different because of our Religious beliefs. God, through his Son Jesus, has given us an example. As He lived, so should we follow Him. If we make an effort we will be successful. It won’t always be simple, there will be work involved but it will be something we can do.
We are witness of Jesus who was willing to empty himself taking the form of a slave coming in human likeness. He lived out life perfectly and he is an example for us. If we set Him up as our guide, then we will be able to have a model we can follow day in and day out.
As we look at the calendar we watch the year ebb away. We see that September is almost over. I’m heading for the mainland in early October to witness the wedding of a young lady I baptized when I was a new priest. Hard to believe that she is ready for wedded bliss.
For the first time in a long while I will see the fall colors. If you have never seen the change you are missing something spectacular. The colors are awesome. Each day is different and one never gets over the beauty.
I might just get a chance to see the World Series in Boston. Ever the optimist and dyed in the wool Red Sox fan, hope springs eternal! Or “Wait till next year” is the appropriate thing to say.
Please keep me in your prayers. I can always use them and be assured that you are always in my prayers. It is good that we never forget each other in one’s prayers. You are in my prayers and hopefully I am in yours.
