Greetings from the Pastor

Twenty-Second Sunday In Ordinary Time:
Are There Rewards?

Today as we gather together to celebrate the Mass for the Twenty-Second Sunday of Ordinary Time, the words of the prophet Jeremiah greet us, “You duped me, O Lord, and I let myself be duped.” We are always at the beck and call of the Lord. We readily follow Him and the outcome is a success for the Lord. This is the way it should be in our dealing with God on a daily basis.

We have to be successful in our daily dealings with the Lord. It is a lifelong journey we have with God and the harder we try, the more success we will have in that relationship. The more we try, the better the result and the better we are.

There is a long relationship we have built up with God. The harder we try the more success we will have. I cannot tell you that the journey will always be successful, but it will be much more often than not.

Wonderful things happen on each leg of our journey. We are successful more often than not and our success brings joy and happiness. When one deals with a believer as I do daily, I find myself more successful each day when dealing with those who believe. You will not believe our successes as a priest fill me with love for those I deal with.

I look back over more than forty-three years of Priesthood and have found myself to be the right person at the right time and know that I was chosen to a priest for a very special reason. Countless times I have been the one to be the right one to hear a certain confession. I have stood at the altar and joined a young couple in Matrimony. I have bent over a dying person and know that I have returned a dying person to the Lord.

There is a sense of consolation in doing what I do. I don’t do it alone, the Lord is with me every step of the way. The consolation that is mine is with me every step of the way. The best theory is that you are with me to be my help. Have you ever thought what a smile from you means to me as I walk side by side with you? God Bless you and thank you.
