Week of July 31, 2011

Today as we celebrate the Mass for the Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, the members of the Society of Jesus throughout the world celebrate the Feast of St. Ignatius Loyola, their founder. Since I entered the Society of Jesus, July 30, 1955, I now celebrated my fifty-sixth anniversary as a member of the Jesuits. A lot has happened since that Saturday in 1955.

Week of July 24, 2011

T oday we gather together to celebrate the Mass for the Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time. The reading from the First Book of Kings centers on God’s relationship with Solomon. On his part Solomon fears being king. He feels he is not able to be a success. We can sense how he is feeling because we feel the same way in our own relationship with God. When we see the result of this conversation it helps us in our own prayers. We know that God hears us and answers us in a manner that will be to our benefit.

Week of July 17, 2011

Today we gather together to celebrate the Mass for the Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time. Our first reading comes from the Book of Wisdom and tells us how to treat one another, always with kindness and concern. God has asked us to live with each other in a very special way with respect and love. If we don’t do this then something very special is missing in how we serve God.

Week of July 10, 2011

Today we gather together to celebrate the Mass for the Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time. The Gospel story centers on the Sower and the seeds he sowed. The Sower is God and the seed is the message He has for us. How important it is for us to listen to the word of God and take it into ourselves and make it come alive because of what we do.

Sts Peter and Paul Church Prepares for New Mass Prayers

On the first Sunday of Advent, November 27, 2011, the new translation of the Roman Missal goes into effect. Under the guidance of Father Dave, the various ministries of Sts Peter and Paul church have begun preparing for the liturgical changes. Preparations include providing resources of information that will help Sts Peter and Paul parishioners understand and embrace the revised translation.

Week of July 3, 2011

Today we gather together to celebrate the Mass for the Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time and we welcome to our Parish Fr. Sydney Fernandez, who comes to us from St. Roch’s Church in Kahuku. He will be taking Msgr. Romeo’s place, who is leaving us after three years of service to the parish and the Diocese.
